Tax Season is Coming... Are You Ready?

Tax Season is Coming... Are You Ready?

January 16, 20252 min read

Tax Season starts January 15th... but at Ciera + Co. we are already making our list and checking it twice.

The end of the year is here, and while everyone else is scrambling to wrap up their holiday shopping, savvy business owners know it’s time to get their books in order.

Tax season doesn’t have to be stressful when you’re prepared—and clean financials are more than just numbers on a spreadsheet. They’re the key to running a profitable, confident, and stress-free business.

Here’s what my clients are saying after tackling their books:

“I feel like I’m finally in control of my business.”

When you know your numbers, you can make decisions that align with your goals—and stop flying blind.

“I’m saving so much more on taxes!”

Clean books mean no missed deductions. Every dollar is accounted for, and more stays in your pocket.

“The anxiety I used to feel is gone.”

Having everything organized and compliant brings peace of mind. No more dreading tax season or worrying about what might have slipped through the cracks.

Ready to check something off your list?

Here is The Ultimate Year-End Tax Checklist:

Get ahead of the game with this simple checklist to close out 2024 and roll into 2025 with clarity:

  • Capture Everything: Gather and organize all your financial data—receipts, bank statements, transactions. Missing anything could mean missed deductions.

  • Categorize Expenses: Make sure every expense is classified correctly (e.g., tools, supplies, rent, mileage) to maximize your write-offs.

  • Check for Missed Deductions: Common deductions for hands-on professionals include...

    Supplies (scissors, lotions, tools)

    Rent (booth or workspace)

    Training or certifications

    Advertising and marketing

  • Don't forget Your contractors: Issue 1099s for any contracted labor over $600 paid to any individual or LLC in 2024.

  • Review Income Reports: Ensure all revenue is accounted for accurately. Don’t leave anything out—services, retail sales, or tips.

  • Plan for Taxes: If you’ve made estimated payments this year, check if you’re on track. If not, set aside extra now to avoid surprises in April.

  • Consider an S-Corp Election: If your profit is over $30k, becoming an S-Corp could save you thousands in self-employment taxes. (Let’s talk if this sounds like you!)

  • Start Fresh for 2025: Once your books are caught up, it’s easier to plan, grow, and stay compliant moving forward.
